How It Works
Test and Record Your FSH Results

(See package insert for complete directions)

Remove cap, hold absorbent tip in urine stream for 10-15 seconds, wait 5 minutes, then read results. Take all 5 tests on alternating days, and record your results on the table provided in the insert.

Combine FSH Results with Your Menstrual Cycle

Look at your cycle. Combine your current pattern with your FSH results to understand your stage.

Whether you haven’t had a period in 12+ months, have 60+ days between periods, are seeing cycle shifts of 7+ days, or still feel mostly regular with minor changes, each pattern points to a different stage.

Empower Your Healthcare Journey

Confused About Menopause? You're Not Alone.

Perimenopause can begin as early as 35, and the transition isn't the same for everyone.

Symptoms and cycles can change unpredictably, making it hard to know where you stand. That's why the Estroven™ Menopause Stage Indicator, an easy, at-home test measures your FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone). While FSH levels do vary across the menstrual cycle, a regularly elevated FSH can be an indication that a woman is approaching menopause, or in postmenopause.

FSH results plus menstrual cycle, help to identify whether you're in peri, menopause or postmenopause.

What is FSH?

FSH stands for follicle stimulating hormone. FSH is a hormone that helps control egg development. When estrogen production declines during the menopausal transition, FSH levels start to fluctuate and increase.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is FSH?

FSH stands for follicle stimulating hormone. FSH is a hormone that helps control egg development. When estrogen production declines during the menopausal transition, FSH levels start to fluctuate and increase.

What are the stages of menopause?

This menopause stage indicator can help you determine if you are in perimenopause, early perimenopause, late perimenopause, early postmenopause or late postmenopause.

Why isn’t “menopause” a stage?

Menopause is only one day. It is the day when you have officially gone 12 months without a period. When people say “menopause” they are typically referring to the entire time they experience symptoms- which can be from perimenopause to postmenopause.

Do I have to test with my first morning urine?

No, but first morning urine is best since it contains the highest concentration of FSH. Urine collected at any time of the day may be used.

Do certain foods, alcohol, or common medications affect the test results?

Foods, alcohol and most medications should not affect the test results. If you are taking hormone replacement therapy, or on hormonal birth control, it is not recommended that you take this test; instead, consult with your healthcare provider about options that are best for you.

Can I still test if I am on my period?

Avoid testing on days when you are bleeding heavily.

What if I missed a test day?

Tests should be taken every other day. If you have missed a testing day, you can take the test the next day you are able and resume the testing schedule. It is important to note that you should not test on back-to-back days.

Why do I need to use 5 tests to get a result?

FSH levels can fluctuate in some stages of perimenopause and menopause, so it is important to take multiple tests, every other day, to account for the variable levels over time.

When can I test?

You can start at any time, but we recommend:

  • If you are on your period, avoid testing on days you are bleeding heavily
  • Test first thing in the morning, when FSH is the most concentrated in the urine.
  • Ensure it’s a convenient time, you will need at least 9 days to take 5 tests on alternating days.

What do I do with my results?

Bring your FSH test results to your next doctor appointment to discuss with your doctor and ask about Estroven® product recommendations for your stage in the menopause journey.
